APA CEO Arthur C. Evans Jr., PhD, wrote an op-ed urging public officials  to incorporate behavioral research and  the science of human behavior, including people’s perceptions of risk and safety to increase the effectiveness of  any COVID-19 vaccine strategies. He highlighted both the science identifying the best strategies for getting people vaccinated and the psychological research “showing other forces that shape people’s behavior on medical issues…Once we have the tools, we need to turn to the science of human behavior to help us get people to use them,” Evans said.
