The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) CY2023 Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule was released on Thursday July 7, 2022.
As part of the rulemaking process, APA will complete its analysis of the proposed rule and submit a comment letter to CMS addressing the agency’s proposed changes.
Given the complexity of the proposal, APA will continue its review of the 2,066 page document and provide psychologists with additional information in the coming weeks about how they can advocate for our profession and the patients we serve.
APA will keep you updated on the implications for psychologists, however, it is important to understand that there are many proposed policy changes regarding integrated primary care, pain management, digital therapeutics, telehealth, and much more—which will impact not only Medicare but also influence policy for Medicaid and private payers as well.
APA will provide details on which proposals it supports and objects to, as well as samples of comment letters to help members prepare individual messages to send to CMS. And the APA advocacy team uses information from members’ comment letters when lobbying on Capitol Hill.
More information on the proposed rule will be available on a dedicated action center page, through state psychological associations, and APA’s grassroots network. While the action center is still under construction, you can sign up to be notified when the page is officially launched and to receive ongoing action alerts by going to the APA Services advocacy stay informed sign-up form.
