Effective October 13, 2022, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has extended the covid-19 national public health emergency declaration for an additional 90 days. This is the 11th renewal of the declaration and extends the emergency through mid-January, 2023. Because many coverage policies are tied to the national emergency declaration, this will impact claims, particularly for telehealth treatment.

HHS has said that they will give 60 days advance notice before ending the public health emergency.
