Mental Health Awareness Month resources for psychologists and patients
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the APA Practice Directorate has put together a range of resources, including fact sheets on how psychologists help patients manage a range of chronic conditions, for psychologists to use with patients, clients and in community outreach.
- Helping patients understand mental health parity
In a recent APA survey, only 4 percent of Americans say they are aware of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, which requires mental and behavioral health coverage to be equal to or better than coverage for physical health. APA has developed free resources, including a consumer guide and a new video to educate the public.
- Fact sheets for psychologists and patients
APA members can order 50 free copies of brochures for public education and outreach efforts.
- Resources for parents and teachers on identifying emotional distress in kids
Materials were created as part of a new partnership between APA and the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to provide families with resources and tips on emotional and behavioral health issues.
