Funding and grants files

APA Services, Inc. (APASI) has announced an increase in funding for state psychological association (SPTA) grants this year. A total of $125,000 will be allocated for legislative grants to support state associations. These grants aim to prioritize initiatives that enhance population health and promote equitable access to care.

In the last 5 years, APASI has awarded 67 grants, allowing states to accomplish tasks like passing mental health bills and large initiatives such as PSYPACT.

Application deadlines and emergency grants

State associations interested in applying for grants should take note of the following deadlines:

  • Predraft consultation with Office of Legal and State Advocacy staff: Due by Friday, August 23
  • Draft submission: Due by Monday, September 16
  • Final submission: Due by Monday, September 30

Additionally, APASI will continue offering legislative emergency grants. Up to $25,000 of the total grant amount will be immediately available to SPTAs facing emergencies or unplanned events. To qualify, SPTAs must demonstrate that unanticipated circumstances necessitate early application. Emergency grant requests will be evaluated promptly, and funds will be accessible until August 23 or until fully awarded.

Contact information and advocacy

The grants are administered through APA’s Office of Legal and State Advocacy. SPTAs seeking grant funding can contact Sheila Kerr-Wilson to schedule a grant consultation.

Beyond financial support, APASI emphasizes its commitment to SPTAs by offering consultation on various issues. For assistance, SPTA leaders can reach out to Sheila and the APA team.
