Led by the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programsopens in new window, letters sent to House and Senate Labor, Health and Human Services, Education Appropriations Subcommittee leadership requested $1 billion for the Health Resources Services Administration Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Block Grant (PDF, 157KB)opens in new window and $100 million for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Surveillance for Emerging Threats to Moms and Babies (set-net) data collection system (PDF, 154KB)opens in new window.
The MCH block grant is a cost-effective, accountable, and flexible funding source used to address the most pressing and unique needs of maternal and child health populations in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. The increased SET-NET funding would enable CDC to reach additional jurisdictions, track more public health threats, and lead the nationwide preparedness and response needed to protect pregnant individuals and infants in the U.S. from emerging and reemerging public health issues. APA Services’ partnership with reproductive health and public health organizations seeks to build upon FY 2023 maternal health appropriations wins.
