APA Services joined with other organizations in endorsing the Protecting the Health of America’s Older Adults Act. The legislation, led by Representative Lois Frankel (D-FL), would authorize the secretary of Health and Human Services to create a Healthy Aging Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to promote and support the health and well-being of older adults and improve health equity.

The Healthy Aging Program would improve coordination of public health interventions, disseminate and implement best practices and programs that promote the health and well-being of older adults, and reduce duplication of efforts at federal, state, and local agencies and with other organizations.

The association will continue to prioritize advocacy for the mental health and health care for the aging population.
