On April 12, 2024, APA Services and the Missouri Psychological Association (MOPA) held a joint advocacy webinaropens in new window focused on telehealth advocacy and the ethical foundations of engaging in advocacy. The webinar was led by Doris Parfaite-Claude, MPP, APA director of grassroots engagement, and Andrew Strickland, JD, APA senior legislative and regulatory counsel. Topics addressed during the webinar included skills training on formulating an advocacy pitch and utilizing social media for advocacy efforts, as well as differences between federal and state advocacy, and lessons learned from APA Services’ ongoing telehealth advocacy. Chuck Hollister, PHD, MOPA chief executive officer, and Amy Beck, PhD, MOPA advocacy committee chair, also provided Missouri-focused context on political dynamics in the state legislature and MOPA’s ongoing advocacy efforts concerning telehealth. Approximately 90 psychologists attended the webinar, many of them new to advocacy, and attendees received 3 hours of Ethics continuing education credit.
