Update: Volunteer by April 17, 2015, to participate in ICD-10 end-to-end testing in Julyopens in new window.
For services provided on or after Oct. 1, 2015, ICD-10-CM codes will be required for reporting purposes. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has been preparing for this change and is now testing its claims processing systems.
CMS is inviting fee-for-service providers to test these systems by volunteering to submit test claims to Medicare with ICD-10-CM codes and receive remittance advice explaining the adjudication of the claim. CMS wants to establish that providers can successfully submit claims to Medicare claims systems and that the CMS software changes result in appropriately adjudicated claims.
Volunteers are being sought for the testing period of April 27-May 1, 2015, and those volunteers may also be selected to participate again July 20-24, 2015. APA Practice Organization (APAPO) encourages psychologists to volunteer in this process to ensure that codes typically used by psychologists function appropriately as implementation of ICD-10-CM begins.
